I got this duster at the end of December (sales are great especially when making investment purchases on ethical and local brands - because otherwise these items can get really pricey and aren’t always viable for everyone). I thought I’d try this Eve Gravel hybrid between a coat and a cardigan… a coat-igan shall we say? I ordered it from a boutique called Victoire which has 2 locations (one in Ottawa and one in Toronto) and an online shop.
My piece came beautifully wrapped in turquoise tissue paper and even the mailing packaging was 100% recycled (which I appreciate! I'm glad they spent the extra time to find eco-packaging!). They included a little note in the package which was so sweet (Olivia from Victoria said she owned the same jacket and it was a wardrobe staple for her), a business card which detailed their location and social info as well as a cutesy magnet. I love that the packaging was so well-thought out and sweet and it really did make me feel special when I was opening it up.

The jacket itself is made by a Montreal-based brand called Eve Gravel. The price point of the brand is a little higher but everything is designed and made in Montreal, Canada. I decided to take the plunge since I want to support more Canadian brands, local small businesses and ethical makers.
I purchased the Endless Night jacket in the colour Lichen. The colour is a warm brown tone and it’s made of a wool and viscose blend. I got it in a size XS but it’s an oversized fit jacket so I think someone it would fit an XS-S-M.

Here, I styled it with a boxy crop top in a cream colour and dark grey high waisted denim. As per usual, I’m wearing black booties. I decided to also add a pair of dangly earrings to the mix because I haven’t really been wearing all the earrings I own, and I love these hammered brass ones from a Hamilton based store called Studio 205. They are a great place to pick up locally made and considerate gifts but are also sometimes a little $$. It’s totally possible to find really reasonably priced items (like these earrings!) if you look! Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the maker’s business who made these particular earrings, but if you recognize them, please leave it in the comments below!

The reason I really loved this piece was because of all the design details and stitching which I think makes it stand out. I love the little notch detail in the front, the high-low style with slits on the side and the back detail which is reminiscent of a trench coat style. I think all these details combined make it really special. The colour is versatile and the material feels natural and good quality. On my sensitive skin it is a bit itchy, but I plan on wearing it with long sleeves and sweaters underneath so it’ll be fine.
I think this piece is a beautiful cardigan-jacket hybrid that will be a great transition piece in the Spring and Fall. It feels like a quality garment that will last well and truly does feel like a special piece in my wardrobe.
Cheers,
Christina
