I love playing with makeup and trying new and different products. I try to keep my collection pretty minimal (which means I only purchase product if I finish one that I already owned- the 1-in, 1-out rule).

Recently, I used up a few products and took the opportunity to try some new ones! Here are the new stuff I’ve been testing out and my thoughts on them so far:

I actually was able to purchase just one mini in the shade 01 Champagne, which is a very gold champagne highlight. I got it in the travel section at my local Shoppers Drug Mart. I’m glad I could try out the mini because it means it won’t dry out and I’ll actually be able to use it up before it expires!

This highlight is subtle if you blend it out but is also buildable. I prefer to rub it on my fingers (warming up the product) and then applying it to the high points on my cheeks.

I purchased this brow pencil in the shade light brown and I’ve been loving it. It has a nice small tip and looks really natural in my brows. Lasts all day (even through sweat!). I am a little concerned by how little product I think there is, so we shall see if it lasts long. If it only works for a month, I don’t think its worth the price tag.

I purchased this palette for the purpose of travel (unfortunately the trip didn’t happen - but the palette is fab!). It’s nice and compact with a large mirror on the inside. I love that the shades are easy, blend-able matte shadows and they can combine to create both daytime and evening looks.

I really like warm toned shadows on me, so this is perfect and I appreciate that there isn’t a black shadow inside because it’s a shade that comes in everything and I never use it!! All of the shadows included are usable and fairly neutral (but if you want to play with colour - that orange shade is beautiful all over the lid).

And… that’s it! A little bit of a shorter post but I figured I would share my “slow” makeup mandate since I share my thoughtful closet on here all the time. If you want more makeup posts and more thorough reviews or tutorials on how I use my products - let me know! I keep things pretty natural and simple but nonetheless I find makeup fun!
